Dear Member of St. Johns,

Grace and Peace to you from our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!

Living Life God’s Way is a three week stewardship series we are engaged in this year. Living Life God’s Way has three main points of focus:

• Glorify God

• Serve One Another

• Be Generous in Every Way

We live life God’s way when we glorify God in all things. One of the main ways we Glorify God is through worship. As we set aside time to gather around the Word of God, we glorify Him by listening to the word and by singing “psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with thankfulness in [our] hearts to God” (Colossians 3:10).

But there are so many more ways to glorify God. The Apostle Paul wrote to the Corinthians, “So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God” (1 Cor. 10:31). The main issue Paul was dealing with is the desire to think of the other person. “Let no one seek his own good, but the good of his neighbor” (1 Cor. 10:27) is what he wrote just a bit earlier. Whether we are at home, at work, being neighborly or whatever we are doing, when we are seeking the good of our neighbor we are bringing glory to God.

In seeking the good of our neighbor and glorifying God, we will certainly Serve One Another. Paul wrote to the Galatians, “For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another” (5:13). Jesus’ washing of the disciples feet the night of His betrayal and His laying down His life for us sets the model of service for us. It also empowers us to love as we have been loved and to serve as we have been served.

With the generosity of God overflowing in the physical and spiritual gifts He pours out on us, Living Life God’s Way is to Be Generous in Every Way. In 2 Corinthians, the Macedonians are held up as an example of those who were generous even in the midst of grinding poverty. It was a generosity that flowed from the grace of God shown them. And we too are reminded that “You will be enriched in every way to be generous in every way, which through us will produce thanksgiving to God” (2 Corinthians 9:11).

We invite you to consider the many opportunities you have to Live Life God’s Way. Please take time to fill out the Volunteer Opportunities form included with this letter. Two forms are included and if more are need for the rest of the family, they are available at church and on our website stjohnspr.org. Under the News/Info you will find a page “2022 Living Life God’s Way.” Please turn the forms into the office by Sunday, October 30.

Together in Christ,

Pastor Neubauer
