This is The Life program: “The Visitation” - Pastor Andrew Burdick (Dick Sargent) is having problems keeping his congregation together. Bishop Smith (Parley Baer) visits him to identify some troubling leadership spots and to renew faith in his ability to get things done. Next week Rev. BEING RECEIVED into God’s family through Holy Baptism this morning at the 10:30 a.m. service is Cooper Lee Charmoli, infant son of Kyle Charmoli and Brianna Weckwerth. “To, You, Lord, this child we bring. Receive him, Shepherd, to Your fold that he to You in faith may cling.” (No, he is not being baptized again. The baptism was rescheduled after the bulletin was printed for September 27☺.)

OUR CHRISTIAN LOVE and sympathy is extended to the family of Tom Vogtman who passed away September 29. A private family service will be held for him and also to the family of Grant Nunn whose funeral was held here yesterday. We pray that Christ brings them peace and comfort in their sorrow.

EVENING GUILD meets Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. in the social hall.

THE CHURCH OFFICE will be closed on Friday. ABC Preschool is off for MEA and Ginny has appointments out of town.

ALL YOUTH in grades 5-12 are invited to join us for a hayride here at church on Friday, October 23 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Snacks included!

ST. JOHNS is hosting the Vitalant blood drive on Monday, November 2 from 11:30 a.m. to 5:45 p.m., and Tuesday, November 3 from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The need for blood donors is even greater at this time. To protect the donors and workers, all the areas for waiting and donating will be continually sanitized and spaced out so there will be at least 6 feet of space between donors. DUE TO Covid 19 restrictions, we will not be serving homemade cookies and bars at the blood drive. As much as we truly appreciated the wonderful treats that were provided for our donors, we will purchase prepackaged, single serving treats for them this time. We want to insure that every precaution is taken to keep the donors safe.  

THE BOARD OF EVANGELISM expresses abundant appreciation to all who participated in the Cedar Rapids, Iowa tornado relief effort. Your overwhelming response to the needs of God's people at King of Kings Lutheran Church was incredible.  We sent the congregation gift cards with a total value of a little over $1000 as well as $1,298 from cash donations. "Let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works, and give glory to your Father who is in heaven" Matthew 5:16.

This week it’s “Handmade - Adam and Eve.” Sarah Newton leads a women’s study in the nursery. Today’s topic is The Weight of Glory by C. S. Lewis. Next week she will start a study on Patience and Perfection. Please let Sarah know if you’re planning to attend so we can order books.

WE’RE PLANNING to start Sunday School next Sunday. We have a fun time planned for our first day–prizes for the discipleship bingo cards, a craft, singing and more. We hope to see you in Sunday School!

WE’RE ALSO PLANNING to bring back busy bags next Sunday and hopefully coffee!  

YOUTH in grades 5-12 are invited to join us for biking to Dorset next Sunday. We will meet at Heartland Park at 1:00 p.m, bike to Dorset, play mini golf, enjoy some ice cream then return by 4:15 p.m. Youth board will pay for mini golf. Bring money for ice cream.
