CONSTRUCTION COMING: the Voters assembly decided at the Tuesday meeting to put a stucco finish on the bell tower. The brick has been flaking off over the years due to freeze and thaw cycles. Falling brick can pose a hazard if people happened to be walking by and got hit by one of the pieces. The stucco finish will seal the brick and improve the appearance of the tower. The project will be paid for with memorials and designated funds. They also decided to remove the damaged carport before we start getting snow and ice. The structural engineer who looked at it thought it would withstand strong winds this summer (so far, so good) but wasn’t sure it would be able to handle heavy snows and ice this winter. We’re hoping to start as soon as possible. Watch for progress and be aware that you may have to use only the back door for awhile. We’re also considering expanding the front lobby and replacing the current door with an automatic sliding door. We’ll keep you updated on this proposal.
