SUNDAY SCHOOL’S lesson for this morning is “The King’s Table.” Mephibosheth, Jonathan’s son, became a crippled fugitive after David became king. But David found him, brought him back to the family and provided for him. Discuss how God provides for our daily needs today. 

OUR CHRISTIAN LOVE and sympathy is extended to Dean and Joyce Walsh and family as they mourn the passing of Dean’s brother, Don Walsh. We pray that God would grant them peace and rest from their sorrow. 

THANK YOU to the group who came and decorated the church inside and out for Christmas. Everything looks beautiful! 

THE YOUTH are selling Christmas Eve luminaries for a free will donation. This is a great way to honor or remember a loved one during the holiday season. Sign up in the front lobby. 

TODAY IS THE DEADLINE to bring in your unwrapped presents for Toys for Girls and Boys and Tiny Tots. Please leave them in the box by the tree in the front lobby. 

COME CAROLING with the Evening Guild on Monday, December 9. We meet at church at 6:00 p.m., go caroling and return to church for an appetizer potluck. Bring your singing voice and your favorite appetizer to share. 

YOUTH LOCK-IN December 13 and 14 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Bemidji for all students in Grades 5-12th. We will meet here at 5:45 p.m. Friday, December 13 and return at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 14. Sign up with Pastor Newton. 

ON SUNDAY, December 15, we’ll gather in the fellowship hall during coffee hour to sing our favorite carols and indulge in our favorite cookies, which will be furnished by members like you! We ask everyone to bring a dozen or two of their favorite cookies or candy. The Board of Fellowship will use leftovers to make up gift packages of goodies and deliver them to our shut-ins. Please plan on joining us in this yearly tradition. 

IT’S THAT TIME of the year again for our silent auction basket fund raiser. The auction will be complete on Sunday, December 15. Check out the baskets and make your bid. Proceeds will go to the kitchen fund. 

SUNDAY SCHOOL CHRISTMAS PROGRAM PRACTICE  continues this Wednesday for 1st-6th grade. Sarah Kaufenberg will pick up kids at the Century School. Please let Sarah know if your child will be attending. She can be reached at 651-260-3350.

SUNDAY SCHOOL’S lesson for this morning is “A King Forever.” David was an unlikely choice as king of Israel but God sees not as man sees...He looks on the heart. After being anointed by the prophet Samuel, David went through many trials before becoming the greatest king of Israel. As a family, talk about how God used David to unite His people and how Jesus will unite all believers.

If you can help, please drop off your items at the American Legion between 1:00 and 4:00 p.m. on December 6 or call Rose Williams at 218-252-5534 to make other arrangements.

THE CLASSIC CHORALE will present their Christmas Concert here on Friday, December 6 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, December 8 at 3:00 p.m.

ON SATURDAY, December 7, Krista and Eric Norquist will present a Christmas concert at 3:00 p.m. here sponsored by the LLL. There will be a free will offering for the Local Lutheran Hour and refreshments following.

TOYS FOR GIRLS, BOYS AND TINY TOTS: Like previous years, there are red and green ornaments on the tree in the church narthex which offer some gift suggestions for different age groups of girls or boys, or you can come up with a gift idea of your own. The blue ornaments are for specific children and list gifts each child requested. If you take a blue ornament, please return it with the gift so we know what child it should be delivered to. Drop off unwrapped gifts to the box under the tree church by December 8.

SUNDAY SCHOOL’S lesson for this morning is “A Prophet Serves.” Samuel served the priest, Eli, from the time he was a young child but then he heard God’s call to serve Him. Discuss how God used Samuel to do His work.

VOTERS MEETING AND POTLUCK: We will have a potluck in the fellowship hall following the second service today. Our voters meeting will take place immediately following the meal.

YOUTH TRIP to Skyzone has been postponed, since they’re partially closed for renovations. On November 30 we’ll gather at church from 4:00-7:30 p.m. for a movie, Bible study and pizza. We’re watching Sahara—it’s rated PG-13 for some some scenes that include gun violence. If you have any concerns, please feel free to call Pastor Newton. We’ll go to Skyzone on December 22, meeting for lunch at noon and returning around 5:00 p.m.

SUNDAY SCHOOL’S lesson for this morning is “A Judge Leads.” God called Gideon to lead His people against their enemies. They triumphed even though they were outnumbered and without even lifting a sword. Discuss ways God can use even small groups of people to accomplish great things.

THE PARK RAPIDS AREA COMMUNITY BAND will present a concert today at 3:00 p.m. at the High School Auditorium. All are invited to attend.

HABITAT FOR HUMANITY will be starting a home in Park Rapids on Tuesday, November 19. All kinds of help is needed from building to providing meals and snacks for the workers. DO YOU LOVE to sing Christmas songs? We would love for you to join our Christmas Choir this year. Rehearsals are on Wednesday from 6:00-6:30 p.m. and continue every Wednesday until our Christmas program on December 22.

VOTERS MEETING AND POTLUCK: Next Sunday, November 24, there will be a congregational potluck served in the fellowship hall following the second service. Our semi-annual voters meeting will take place immediately following the meal. If you are a voting member and can’t make it to the meeting, please call the church office to be excused.

WE’RE preparing to send Christmas packages to our Adopt-A-Chap, Vince Bain, in Kuwait. Please check the sheet by the office to sign up for requested items. Then bring them to the church by November 24. Thank you!

IT’S TIME again for our silent auction basket fund raiser. Look for a sign-up sheet in the social hall. You may bring your baskets for bidding on Sunday, November 24. The auction ends Sunday, December 15. The baskets make great Christmas gifts!

BLESSED are the volunteers, for without them, what would we do? I’d like to thank everyone who volunteered to work registration, serve or provide snacks, and especially those who donated blood during our blood drive on November 4 and 5. There were 117 donors who were able to successfully donate for a total of 147 blood products. This wonderful outcome could not be accomplished without the help of our volunteers and donors. SUNDAY SCHOOL’S lesson for this morning is “The Land at Last.” After wandering in the desert for 40 years, the Israelites are about to enter the promised land. Throughout this time God provided for them and lead them. Ask your children how God leads and cares for us today. 

OUR CHRISTIAN LOVE and sympathy is extended to Sam and Jan Pike and family as they mourn the death of Jan’s sister, Gloria Kostuch. We pray that Christ would grant them peace and rest from their sorrow.

THE SCREWTAPE LETTERS book club starts tomorrow at noon in the youth room. Since there’s so much interesting stuff in this book we’ll meet for six weeks instead of four as originally planned.

DO YOU LOVE to sing Christmas songs? We would love for you to join our Christmas Choir this year. We will have a Christmas Music Sunday along with our Sunday School's Christmas Program on December 22 at the 10:30 a.m. service. Rehearsals will start this Wednesday from 6:00-6:30 p.m. and continue every Wednesday until our Christmas program.

THE PARK RAPIDS AREA COMMUNITY BAND will present a concert on Sunday, November 17 at 3:00 p.m. at the High School Auditorium. All are invited to attend.

WE’RE WELCOMING several new members into our St. Johns family on Sunday, November 24. Come and meet our new members at a reception in the fellowship hall between services that day.

VOTERS MEETING AND POTLUCK: On Sunday, November 24, there will be a congregational potluck served in the fellowship hall following the second service. Our semi-annual voters meeting will take place immediately following the meal. If you are a voting member and can’t make it to the meeting, please call the church office to be excused.

ADOPT-A-CHAP boxes sent in October were greatly appreciated by the soldiers. We are now preparing to send Christmas packages to Kuwait. Please check the sheet by the office to sign up for requested items. Then bring them to the church by November 24.

IT’S THAT TIME of the year again for our silent auction basket fund raiser. Look for a sign-up sheet in the social hall. You may bring your baskets for bidding on Sunday, November 24. The auction will be complete on Sunday, December 15. The baskets make great Christmas gifts!
