THIS MORNING’S 8:00 a.m. service features the bells of St. Johns on all the music from prelude to postlude. A special thank you to our soloists, Matt Kaufenberg and Leandra Craigmile, song leader, Mike Poole, flautist, Donna Neumann, keyboardist, Sarah Kaufenberg and organist, Cheryl Hilgemann!

TODAY is the last day to bid on the baskets in the social hall. Proceeds go to the National Youth Gathering and the Children’s Choir. The baskets make great Christmas gifts!

JOIN US today as we gather in the fellowship hall during coffee hour to sing our favorite carols and indulge in our favorite cookies. The Board of Fellowship will use leftovers to make up gift packages of goodies and deliver them to our shut-ins.

OUR SUNDAY SCHOOL Christmas program, “King Jesus,” will be presented at the 10:30 a.m. service today. Come and enjoy the Christmas story as told by the Sunday School students.

THE YOUTH are selling Christmas Eve luminaries for a free will donation. This is a great way to honor or remember a loved one during the holiday season. Sign up in the front lobby.

ADVENT SERVICES: Our Advent services continue this Wednesday with a service at noon followed by a meal. The Youth will serve a meal at 5:00 p.m. with worship at 6:00 p.m. Our focus this week is “The Leap of Joy.” It’s always a cause for rejoicing when the presence of God is near. We rejoice that God sees fit to draw near to us in His Word and through the sacraments.

COME CELEBRATE the birth of Jesus with us at our Christmas Eve services on December 24 at 3:00 p.m and 5:30 p.m. Christmas Day Communion Service will be held at 9:00 a.m. Worship Christ, the newborn King!

THANK YOU St. Johns parishioners! You donated 56 packages and almost 150 gifts to the Toys for Girls and Boys and Tiny Tots to help make this a happier Christmas for local families, and at least one person offered to help package and distribute gifts. The Board of Evangelism would like to thank you for your generosity and Christmas spirit.

He begins the rescue of Israel from the Philistines while the Mightier Son delivers from sin and Satan.

SUNDAY SCHOOL Christmas program practice for 1st-6th grades will be held on Wednesday December 12, from 3:15-5:00 p.m. There will be a dress rehearsal on Saturday, December 15 from 9:00-11:30 a.m. The Christmas program will take place Sunday, December 16 at 10:30 a.m.

ON SATURDAY, December 15, Krista and Eric Norquist will present a Christmas concert at 3:00 p.m. here at St. Johns sponsored by the LLL. There will be a free will offering for the Local Lutheran Hour and refreshments following.

The Evening Guild will serve a meal at 5:00 p.m. with worship at 6:00 p.m. Our theme is “What Child Is This?” Our focus this week is “Zechariah’s Hope.” Zechariah had a lesson to learn: God is not stingy with His gifts. God reminds us of the same thing–He doesn’t merely give us what we need to scrape by in this world, or just to survive this moment. He gives us hope that’s eternal.

SUNDAY SCHOOL Christmas Program practice for 1st-6th grades will be held on Wednesdays, December 5 and 12, from 3:15-5:00 p.m.

LADIES OF THE CONGREGATION: The Ladies Aid will be having a potluck on Thursday, December 6, at noon and all the ladies of our congregation are invited to attend. Please bring a dish to share and bring a gift for a white elephant gift exchange.

The Military BibleStick is a digital audio player that is pre-loaded with a dramatized recording of the entire New Testament. The cost of one BibleStick is $25. DECK THE HALLS! Please join the Fellowship Board tomorrow (Monday, November 26) at 9:00 a.m. as we decorate the sanctuary and the rest of the church for Christmas. Coffee and rolls will be on hand for all to enjoy before, during and after decorating!

THE “LUNCH BUNCH” will meet at West Forty on Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. All widows and widowers are welcome to join them.

SUNDAY SCHOOL Christmas Program practice for 1st-6th grade and all children’s choir members will be held on Wednesdays, November 28 and December 5 and 12, from 3:15-5:00 p.m. The St. Johns bus will pick up kids from Century School. If your child will be riding the church bus, please contact Sarah Kaufenberg at 651-260-3350 and let her know so we make sure everyone is picked up.

THE CLASSIC CHORALE will present their Christmas Concert “The Nativity” here on Friday, November 30 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, December 2 at 3:00 p.m. featuring the Community Children’s Chorus directed by Sarah Kaufenberg.

FLOWERS ON THE ALTAR this morning were given by Randy and Lori Griess in celebration of their 43rd wedding anniversary.

TODAY IN SUNDAY SCHOOL: Preschoolers lesson is “Ruth.” The 1st-6th grade lesson is “Worship in the Tabernacle.” 

VOTERS MEETING AND POTLUCK: We will have a congregational potluck served in the fellowship hall following the second service today. Our semi-annual voters meeting will take place immediately following the meal.

ON MAIN STREET LIVING NORTH: Today “Hebrews 10:11-25,” will be presented by Rev. Thomas Puffe, St. Johns Lutheran, Thief River Falls and Zion Lutheran, Warren. Next week Rev. OUR CHRISTIAN LOVE and sympathy is extended to Tim and Brenda Huwe as they mourn the death of Tim’s mother, Margaret, and to Ray and Betty Vaadeland as they mourn the death of Ray’s father, Oscar. We pray that Christ would grant them peace and rest from their sorrow.

IT’S THAT TIME of the year again for our silent auction basket fund raiser. Look for a sign-up sheet in the social hall starting today. You may bring your baskets for bidding on Sunday, November 25. The auction will be complete on Sunday, December 16. The baskets make great Christmas gifts!

THANKSGIVING SERVICES are scheduled for Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. and Thursday at 9:00 a.m.

HELP LIGHT UP the Christmas tree on Main Street and help the Hospice program, too. Each $25 donation to Hospice provides a light on the tree. For details and a donation form, pick up an envelope by the church office.

DECK THE HALLS! Please join the Fellowship Board on Monday, November 26 at 9:00 a.m. as we decorate the sanctuary and the rest of the church for Christmas. Coffee and rolls will be on hand for all to enjoy before, during and after decorating!

SUNDAY SCHOOL Christmas Program practice for 1st-6th grade and all children’s choir members will be held on Wednesdays, November 28 and December 5 and 12, from 3:15-5:00 p.m. The St. Johns bus will pick up kids from Century School. If your child will be riding the church bus, please contact Sarah Kaufenberg at 651-260-3350 and let her know so we make sure everyone is picked up.

LAST YEAR members of St. Johns donated over 100 gifts to the Toys for Girls and Boys and Tiny Tots program to help make Christmas a little brighter for local families. The Board of Evangelism would like to ask for your help again. Ornaments on the tree in the narthex offer some gift suggestions for different age groups of girls or boys, or come up with a gift idea of your own. Drop off unwrapped gifts to the box under the tree at church by December 9. If anyone is willing to help sort and distribute gifts for a day or two during the week of December 10 should contact Tanja at 218-255-6056.

ON SUNDAY, December 16 we’ll gather in the fellowship hall during coffee hour to sing our favorite carols and indulge in our favorite cookies, which will be furnished by members like you! We simply ask everyone to bring a dozen or two of their favorite cookies or candy and after singing, the Board of Fellowship will make up gift packages of goodies and deliver them to our shut-ins. Please plan on joining us in this yearly tradition here at St. Johns.

PUT AN MP3 BIBLESTICK in the hands of a soldier through Faith Comes by Hearing's Military BibleStick project. The Military BibleStick is a digital audio player that is pre-loaded with a dramatized recording of the entire New Testament. The cost of one BibleStick is $25. Your gift payable to St. Johns and earmarked “BibleStick” and may be placed in the offering or dropped off in the church office through November.

BLESSED are the volunteers, for without them, what would we do? I’d like to thank everyone who volunteered to call donors, work registration, serve or provide snacks, and especially those who donated blood during our blood drive on November 5 & 6. There were 125 donors who were able to successfully donate for a total of 150 blood products. This wonderful outcome could not be accomplished without the help of our volunteers and donors.
