FLOWERS ON THE ALTAR this morning were given by Shirley Potter in loving memory of her husband, Al, on his 10th heavenly birthday, January 18, 2019.

OUR CHRISTIAN LOVE and sympathy is extended to Bill Hutter and family as they mourn the death of his wife, Mary, and Kathy Brown and family as they mourn the death of her father, James Billings. We pray that our Lord Jesus Christ will give them peace and rest from their sorrow.

ON MAIN STREET LIVING NORTH: Today Rev. Brandon Woodruff, Peace Lutheran Church, Garrison, ND, will present the message “Signs.” Next week Rev. Thomas Marcis, Zion Lutheran, Bismarck, ND, will present the message “Jesus’ Opening Address.” Main Street Living is broadcast Sundays at 9:00 a.m. on KVRR Fargo-Moorhead or you can watch it online at www.mainstreetlivingnorth.com.

TODAY’S SUNDAY SCHOOL lesson is “The Visit of the Wise Men,” as told in Matthew 2. The Bible Story teaches us that the Savior came into the world for the salvation of all people. Just as the Wise Men came to Bethlehem to see the Savior and to honor Him, so we come to church to see the Savior in His Word and Sacraments. With these gifts, He both honors and blesses us. Consider discussing, “How are we sometimes like Herod? How are we like the Wise Men?”

A SPECIAL OFFERING will be taken today after each service for the Pregnancy Resource Center for Sanctity of Life Sunday.

IT’S TIME TO RENEW or start a new Lutheran Witness subscription. The cost is $22.56 and is due today. There is a special Lutheran Witness envelope in your offering packet. Please put your name and address on the back of the envelope to help us double check for correct addresses.

THE EVENING GUILD will have their regular monthly meeting today in the sanctuary at 9:15 a.m.

YOUTH TUBING has been postponed due to the cold weather. Instead we will have pizza and a movie. We will meet here at St. Johns today at 11:45 a.m. and be done around 3:00 p.m. This event is free and friends are welcome. We hope to go tubing in February.

THE 2019/2020 coffee schedule is posted on the round table in the social hall. If you’re currently on the coffee schedule, please check to make sure your scheduled dates work for you. If you’re not, please consider signing up in the empty spaces to serve and/or bring treats.

THE “LUNCH BUNCH” will meet at West Forty on Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. All widows and widowers are welcome to join them.

ESSENTIA HEALTH is hosting a Lunch and Learn here at St. Johns on Thursday, January 24 at noon. Troy Helland, BSS RRT, CTTS will present “Tobacco Use, Effects and Treatments.” The seminar is free of charge and lunch is provided. AS CHRISTIANS, we are called to be witnesses of Christ in our everyday lives. “Every ONE His Witness” is a Lutheran evangelism program that teaches you how to witness to your friends, coworkers, and any other unchurched people you may know. Using the LASSIE approach to witnessing (listen, ask, seek, share, invite, and encourage), you will learn how to naturally share the Good News of Jesus Christ with those you encounter on a daily basis in an unforced, natural way. Please prayerfully consider attending “Every ONE His Witness” here at St. Johns. Pastor Jeff Lee from the district office will conduct this workshop the first three Tuesdays in February from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Each session builds on the previous one. We encourage you to attend all three sessions, but if this is not possible, please come to those that work into your schedule. We will need to order workbooks, so please sign up on the sheets available in the office or front lobby.

YES! Trivia is back and scheduled to take place on Sunday,  March 10. Get your teams of 2-8 players set, and watch for all the details in the upcoming newsletter.

THE BOARD OF EVANGELISM needs volunteers for facilitating BINGO at Diamond Willow one evening a month from 5:45-6:30 p.m. This is a quick, easy, and fun way to show care for those who aren’t as mobile and otherwise active as many of us are blessed to be. If you wish to volunteer for one of these brief evening commitments, please contact Connie Fondow at 732-9238.
