TODAY IN SUNDAY SCHOOL: Preschoolers are doing the Little Lamb Sunday School materials. The1st-6th grade lesson is “Joseph Forgives.” 

JOIN A BIBLE STUDY: Sunday mornings at 9:15 a.m., Pastor Neubauer leads a study on conflict resolution in the social hall and Sarah Newton leads a women’s Bible study in the library. Pastor Newton’s Sunday morning Bible study for the youth will focus on the theme “Real. Present. God.” which is the theme for the National Youth Gathering. Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. Pastor Neubauer leads a class on Ephesians and Pastor Neumann will study the book of Proverbs on Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m.

THE “LUNCH BUNCH” will meet at West Forty on Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. All widows and widowers are welcome to join them.

RELEASE TIME starts this Wednesday. Children should have received slips to be signed and returned to the school. If your child didn’t bring home a permission slip and you would like them to attend, please contact their teacher or the school office.

COME SING WITH THE CHOIR! Everyone welcome. You can come sing with us as your schedule permits. We meet on Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. in the choir room. All God’s people got a place in the choir!

TAILGATE PARTY: All youth 5th grade and up and friends are invited to a Homecoming Tailgate party on Friday, October 5 after school at the church picnic shelter for fellowship, food and fun prior to the game. Parents: please note, we will get your student to the football field, but will not be responsible for them after that. If you want to go to the National Youth Gathering, you need to come to this meeting with a parent! We’ll be filling out forms and stuff that need to be turned in ASAP. Please RSVP to church (732-9783), Pastor Newton (815-222-1359) or Brandi Backmann (218-252-1888).

Starting in October, you’ll get e-mails each week with a list of Bible stories to read. If you don’t have internet access but want to do the program, let us know and we’ll get you the weekly reading plans.

ALL MEN of the congregation are invited to join our men’s group, St. Johns Lutheran Laymen’s League. We meet on the second Thursday of the month and participate in programs of general interest to men, Bible study, fellowship, and activities to finance the local Lutheran Hour. Our new member meeting, an outdoor steak fry, will be held on Thursday, September 13 at 5:30 p.m. Everyone should bring a steak to grill except for those who have been invited as a guest of a current member. Other food and beverages will be provided. It is hoped that men of St. Johns, young and old, might consider joining the group. If you have any questions, please contact David Vik at 218-732-0475.
